Why should we conserve and protect our hearing?

We all care for our skin, hair, and overall health. Similarly, caring for our ears too is of utmost importance! Noise exposure is a part and parcel of our everyday life! Tips for Hearing Conservation Training

:

  1. Use Ear Protective Aids:

If you are working in a factory or in an occupation that exposes you to machinery noise. It is highly advised to use ear protective aids at all times while you work. Further, you can buy earplugs or earmuffs, or noise cancellation aids to conserve your hearing.

  1. Allow your ears recovery time:

If you have exposed yourself to loud sounds in an event or a party, give some resting time to your ears. Make sure you do not expose your ears to loud music or watch movies in a theater immediately after. This recovery period will help the cells in your ears to self-recover.

  1. Sit away from the loudspeaker:

If you are at a party or a meeting, always choose a seat that is away from the loudspeaker!

  1. Monitor sound exposure:

Make sure you are not listening to music or watching television at high-volume. Always limit your duration of sound exposure to no more than an hour or two.

  1. Exercise:

Keep the blood pumping and oxygen flowing in your body! Exercise helps you to stay healthy and protects your hearing.

  1. Avoid places of loud noise exposure.
  2. Avoid putting Q-Tips or earbuds in your ears. The ear self-cleans and you do not have to do it!
  3. Always check with your doctor before taking medications! Some medications can cause hearing loss too!
  4. Use earplugs while you swim and always keep them dry!
  5. Get your hearing tested at least once a year by a registered Audiologist.

These tips should be followed regularly by infants, children, adults, and the elderly. A pregnant woman must also make sure to follow these tips to protect their little one.
