What a Business Is Doing To Ensure Inclusive Hiring And Livelihoods For The Disabled

Imagine people with hearing impairments who have experienced discrimination for the majority of their lives—not just in terms of receiving an education, but also in terms of obtaining work. Not only do their talents go unappreciated, but many of them face significant obstacles throughout their life in order to be able to support their families and make a living.

With the idea that these people’s abilities are “stronger than their impairments,” Amazon India has set out on a mission to give them opportunities to support themselves.

The Better India contacted Karuna Pande, who oversees Amazon India’s fulfilment centre operations, to learn how an inclusive work environment is improving the lives of hundreds of people with hearing impairments.

From today, AIISH will organise an audiology meeting in Mysuru.

“Disability certification of persons with speech and hearing impairment” is the conference’s focus.

In addition to recommending the inclusion of conditions like central auditory processing disorders, tinnitus, giddiness, aphasia, stuttering, voice disorders, and auditory neuropathy spectrum disorders for disability certification, the conference will also examine the development of disability certification protocols.
