They found that rates for mothers of neurotypical children were much lower (6% to 13.6%) and that approximately 50% of all mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or Autistic child mother had elevated levels of depressive symptoms.

They found that, according to a recent survey conducted over an 18-month period, roughly 50% of all mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) had elevated levels of depressive symptoms, compared to a much lower rate (6% to 13.6%) for mothers of neurotypical children.

DC Anantnag calls a meeting to establish the DDRC

24th of August, Anantnag Today, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Anantnag, called a meeting of the District Management Team (DMT) to discuss the establishment of the District Disability Rehabilitation Center (DDRC).

He asked the DMT members’ opinions and gave them instructions to undertake on-the-spot checks. The discussion covered the engagement of labour, the nature of their duties, and the nomination of the DDRO to oversee the DDRC’s operations and coordinate with other departments.

Dr. Basharat instructed the Nodal Officer for the District Red Cross to make a proposal for the choice of implementing organisations.

On June 22, 1998, in the Eluru district’s Hanuman Junction, she founded the Asha Jyothi Handicapped Welfare Society alongside Ravi and his father Venkata Swamy.

Search for early intervention programmes in all districts

K.S. Lathakumari, the state’s commissioner for people with disabilities, stated on Thursday that the National Health Mission has asked the Department of Health and Family Welfare to build early intervention centres throughout the State (NHM).

The department has so far established these centres in the districts of Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Mangaluru, Kodagu (near Madikeri), Raichur, Shivamogga, Davangere, and also in Bengaluru city (at Victoria Hospital). She noted that the centres had opened up in the district hospitals in the eight districts.
